Trio Madamicella
Any mention of Corsican polyphonic singing often brings to mind male voices. Not so the Trio Madamicella, which features three professional singers: Laetitia Casabianca, Fanny Châtelain and Nadine Rossello, who also handles the group’s art direction.
With this minimal configuration, each member has a different role to play, in the vernacular a secunda, u bassu, a terza. Their personalities blend and mingle to form a powerful and harmonious ensemble with impressive harmonics.
Their songs – now sober, now joyful – draw on the sources of tradition with much emphasis on improvisation. The themes addressed are equally sacred and profane.
Madamicella are a bright light throughout the Midi-Pyrénées region, which sponsors the trio, but the ladies also perform just about everywhere in France and in the Netherlands this April 2015.
