Chorale Crescendo in concert on the 19th of June 2016
Based at the church of Saint Pierre, the Chorale Crescendo Bordeaux was formed in 2004 at the instigation of choir master Benoît Morel and a dozen or so student friends and young singers. The goal was two-fold: to perform a varied international repertoire of both religious and non-religious music, and singing enjoyment within a friendly and relatively young atmosphere. Buoyed by this almost contagious mood, the group has indeed gone “crescendo” by welcoming new and foreign vocal talent while advancing in the performance of their repertoire. A change of conductor for a number of songs and the intake of instrumentalists and soloists from outside have done much to help the choir’s development.
Today, the group has about fifty amateur singers and the repertoire is as eclectic as ever. It is renewed each year to address major international trends in music, from the Renaissance to the present day… with foreign members working hard on their pronunciation. The chorale Crescendo likes to share its performances for the benefit of charity organizations…Foi et Lumière, Pour un sourire d’Enfant, A Bras Ouverts, ACAT and the restoration of churches. In recent years, Crescendo has organized visits from foreign choirs (Czech, Swedish, Russian, English, Catalan, Polish), each one the opportunity for friendly get-togethers and shared concerts.
From the 21st of January to the 1st of April 2017, Crescendo will be performing with the Bordeaux Unisson ACME orchestra at the Théâtre Olympia in Arcachon and the Casino Barrière in Bordeaux, singing a repertoire of opera, operetta and well known airs.

A self-taught choir conductor with a love for the sounds of polyphony, this father of five children, helped by his wife, successfully strikes the perfect balance between the rigours of music and the social side of a most friendly group, where weekly rehearsals usually end up at the local pub…
