La Maîtrise de Radio-France performing October 14, 2017

Founded in 1946 by Henry Barraud, the Maîtrise de Radio-France, is one of Radio France’s four permanent formations, alongside the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre Philharmonique and the Chœur de Radio France.
Besides a musical education of the highest level for children aged nine and over, the Maîtrise de Radio-France is a stepping stone to participation in a number of prestigious musical events directed by some of the finest conductors. An eclectic repertoire stretches from 15th century polyphonic music to contemporary material and even musicals, from works sung a cappella to scores with full orchestra.
The group has been directed by a number of leading names over the years: Marcel Couraud, Jacques Jouineau, Henri Farge, Michel Lasserre de Rozel, Denis Dupays and, from 1998 to 2007, by Toni Ramon. The exceptional experience enjoyed by the young choristers with Maîtrise de Radio-France includes concerts broadcast live on Radio France, particularly on France Musique.

Born in Stockholm, Sofi Jeannin studied singing and piano in Sweden. After an advanced course in choral direction, she devoted her talent to musicology at the Stockholm Royal Academy of Music. After gaining a prestigious Lavoisier scholarship, she headed to London to specialize in choral direction at the Royal College of Music. At the head of several British ensembles, Sofi Jeannin also taught the art of choral singing at the RCM’s Junior Department and at Imperial College.
In June 2010, she gave a stellar performance with the Stockholm Concert Orchestra for the celebration of the wedding of Princess Victoria of Sweden. As Musical Director of the Maîtrise de Radio France since March 2008 and Artistic and Teaching Director for 170 students, she has created any number of scores for equal voice choirs. In 2010, she was appointed Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and in 2011 was promoted to the grade of Chevalier of the Ordre des Palmes Académiques.
