Aurélie Ligerot, soprano soloist for Mozart’s Requiem on the 27th of November 2016

Aurélie Ligerot began her career in music at the Bordeaux Conservatory, working with a master class run by Teresa Berganza, Raina Kabaivanska, Giuseppe Sabbatini and Enzo Dara. She was the winner of the Concours des Amis du Grand Théâtre in 2010 and in April 2013 was the only French singer selected for the Seoul International Contest. Her first roles came with the Opéra Bastide (Lyrical Arts), including Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, Adina in L’elisir d’amore, and Micaëla in Carmen. In 2009-2010, she benefited from a partnership between the Bordeaux Conservatory and the Opera Company, which awarded her the role of Jano in Janacek’s Jenufa, and the Lady-in-Waiting in Verdi’s Macbeth. A coloratura lyrical soprano, her richly powerful voice is as smooth as it is agile, allowing Aurélie Ligerot to address roles that are both high-scale and dramatic, whether the great romantic heroines or the divas of Mozart. On the oratorio side, her repertoire stretches from Bach to Poulenc with such emblematic works as Rossini’s Short Solemn Mass, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, Poulenc’s Gloria, and the Coronation Mass, the Mass in C and the Requiem by Mozart. The 2013 season saw the doors open to two major opera houses, in Avignon, where she performed Jano in Jenufa, and Toulon, where she sang the role of the Grand Priestess in Verdi’s opera, Aida. That same year, Aurélie Ligerot was chosen for the role of Violetta in the French version of Verdi’s La Traviata. In 2013-2014 and back with the Toulon Opera House, she was understudy to Sabine Devielhe in Serpetta and Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera. She also sang Andreloun in Gounod’s Mireille at the Avignon Opera House staged by Alain Guingal. In 2015, Violetta in the German version at the Hamburger Kammeroper was her first experience with a troupe. In March 2016, Aurélie Ligerot was Rozenn in Le roi d’Ys by Edouard Lalo at St Etienne then Anna Kennedy in Donzinetti’s Maria Stuarda at the Opera House in Marseille. She will also be performing the role of Belinda in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas in Bordeaux with the Opéra Bastide Company.
