La Maîtrise de Radio-France performing October 14, 2017
Founded in 1946 by Henry Barraud, the Maîtrise de Radio-France, is one of Radio France’s four permanent formations, alongside the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre Philharmonique and the Chœur de Radio France.
Besides a musical education of the highest level for children aged nine and over, the Maîtrise de Radio-France is a stepping stone to participation in a number of prestigious musical events directed by some of the finest conductors. An eclectic repertoire stretches from 15th century polyphonic music to contemporary material and even musicals, from works sung a cappella to scores with full orchestra.
The group has been directed by a number of leading names over the years: Marcel Couraud, Jacques Jouineau, Henri Farge, Michel Lasserre de Rozel, Denis Dupays and, from 1998 to 2007, by Toni Ramon. The exceptional experience enjoyed by the young choristers with Maîtrise de Radio-France includes concerts broadcast live on Radio France, particularly on France Musique.
